At the inquest into Mrs Lloyd's death last week, a coroner warned that the cause of death had been a wheat bag she had heated up in her microwave. Fire investigators thought the year- old, who had Alzheimer's disease, had accidentally added a zero to her microwave's timer, meaning she heated the bag for ten times more than the recommended amount it should have taken, which is usually 90 seconds.
As a result, it caught fire inside the microwave causing thick, acrid smoke to billow into her semi-detached home in Greater Manchester.
She later died in hospital from smoke inhalation. Mrs Lloyd is the fifth person known to have died following a fire caused by a wheat bag, and there have been 44 recorded incidents over the past five years.
But because there is no official category for this type of fire, the true number could be far higher. Craig McIntosh, chief fire officer at West Yorkshire Fire and rescue, said that in his team tackled five blazes caused by wheat bags.
After last year's inquest into Mrs Ghiloni's death, coroner David Hinchliffe wrote an official letter raising his concerns over the dangers of wheat bags.
He also asked Chris Clarke, lead investigator at West Yorkshire Fire and rescue, to find out what exactly was causing them to catch fire.

However, the irony is that having a British Standard mark is not a statutory requirement, only voluntary, meaning anyone can cobble together a wheat bag and sell it to the public without it being tested.
My fear is that the next fire I go to involving a wheat bag will be to a child in a cot. But for Lynda Townsend, and all those who have been affected by a wheat bag fire, they will always be dangerous.
